Senator Preaches for Internet Governance Task Force

Senator Mushahid Hussain was speaking at the launching ceremony of the Pakistan School of Internet Governance (PkSIG) project at HEC when he spoke about his belief that there should be a task force to devise a future strategy for future internet governance comprising of representatives from many different areas including government, industry, civil society, and academia.

He believes the internet to be a driving force for change and steps for internet governance in Pakistan are extremely necessary. The Telecommunication Authority Chairman of Pakistan Dr. Ismail Shah stated that Pakistan has witnessed remarkable growth in terms of internet accessibility as well as “the number of people having access to internet.” This has increased from 3.7 million in 2014 to 19.2 million at present.
